A federal judge rejected the latest request from former President Donald Trump to block the release of January 6 records.

On Tuesday night Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled that the National Archives could turn over documents sought by the January 6 select committee in their investigation into the former president and a number of his allies.

“Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President,” she wrote in her decision.

Trump filed a new motion to stop the release of the records, but Chutkan rejected it as well.

She wrote this time, “This court will not effectively ignore its own reasoning in denying injunctive relief in the first place to grant injunctive relief now.”

The next step for the former president would be to go to an appeals court to stop the release of the records before Friday.

UPDATE — Thursday, 11/11: A federal appeals court has temporarily halted the delivery of those records. Oral arguments in the case are set to start at the end of the month, per NPR.
