Trump Says ‘Women For Kavanaugh’ Are Gathering on Capitol Hill: ‘They Are Not Paid Professional Protestors’

President Donald Trump tweeted Saturday morning about “Women for Kavanaugh,” a group supporting his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, claiming they are not paid protestors.

His tweet came ahead of the Senate’s vote on Kavanaugh Saturday afternoon, which is expected to place him on the Supreme Court.

“Women for Kavanaugh, and many others who support this very good man, are gathering all over Capital [sic] Hill in preparation for a 3-5 P.M.,” Trump tweeted. “VOTE. It is a beautiful thing to see – and they are not paid professional protesters who are handed expensive signs. Big day for America!”

Trump’s remark about “paid professional protesters who are handed expensive signs” is likely a reference to a conspiracy theory he touted on Friday, when he tweeted that the sexual assault victims that confronted Sen. Jeff Flake were “paid professionals” funded by billionaire George Soros.

There’s 0 evidence that Soros, a Democratic donor and frequent boogeyman of right wing conspiracists, paid for the protestors’ signs. As NBC News

reported, one of the protestors “works for the Center for Popular Democracy, which gets some of its funding from the Open Society Foundation, which is, in turn, backed by Soros.”
