Brian Glenn, the MAGA-friendly reporter famous for asking President Donald Trump nothing but softballs, kicked off Monday’s joint press event with Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in what can only be called a fashion-forward olive branch: a compliment on Zelensky’s suit.

The moment was loaded with history. The last time the trio appeared together, Glenn publicly dinged Zelensky for showing up in a T-shirt instead of a suit. On Monday, Zelensky arrived in a black coat — Glenn did not miss the upgrade.

“I apologize to you. You look wonderful,” Glenn said, drawing laughter from the room. “No, my first question for you, President Zelensky. In the same suit. You see, I changed you.”

He followed with a serious question about whether Ukraine would hold elections “upon peace.” Zelensky said elections could happen, but only under secure conditions — no surprise there, given the ongoing war.

Then, Glenn pivoted back to his usual beat: Trump and the media. “Do you think the American media really doesn’t even want a peace deal because they’ve been so critical of you every step of the way as you lead the charge for peace?” he asked, the perfect setup for a Trump monologue.

Trump obliged. His answer wandered through familiar territory: media dishonesty, wars “going on for 31, 35, and 37 years” that he claimed to have ended, and a digression about a golfer’s son now being able to dine safely in D.C. thanks to the

National Guard.

“The level of hatred and animosity is incredible,” Trump said, portraying himself as the country’s unsung hero.

The exchange was classic Glenn: part genial host, part loyal MAGA-friendly amplifier. It also showcased the theatrical side of the event: Zelensky in a sharp suit, Trump railing against the press, and Glenn delivering smiles, apologies, and softballs with equal precision.

In short: Glenn apologized for his past sartorial critique, Zelensky got a style upgrade, and Trump got a friendly reminder of how eager some reporters are to play along — all in a single, laughter-filled press moment. It was diplomacy, politics, and a hint of fashion critique rolled into one.
