Democratic lawmakers shouted at a Fox News reporter Wednesday for asking about their colleagues storming Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) office.

The day before, Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) led a procession of congressional Democrats to Johnson’s office. The group chanted, “Swear her in,” while holding signs bearing the same phrase. Grijalva — who won a special election in September — had yet to be formally sworn in to the House of Representatives. Johnson insisted it was due to the House not being in session during the government shutdown, but critics accused the speaker of delaying her swearing-in because she could force a House vote on the release of files pertaining to deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

Following a speech on Capitol Hill by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Fox News’ Aishah Hasnie tried to get his attention to ask him about the demonstration. Specifically, Hasnie asked, “Is this the fight that you support?”

While Jeffries didn’t acknowledge the question, it did get the attention of some of the

Democrats nearby. One of them shouted out to Hasnie, “You’re lying!” Another Democrat repeatedly yelled back, “It’s the people’s office!”

Moments later, Hasnie was able to get within a few feet of Jeffries. She attempted to show him the video on her phone, but he said he had another press conference soon and walked off.
