Macklemore on Twitter/X
Rapper Macklemore released a new protest track on Monday in which he backed pro-Palestine protestors across the country and condemned their critics — including President Joe Biden.
The track, entitled “Hind’s Hall” after the building occupied by protestors at Columbia University, made it clear that Macklemore is roundly in support of the pro-Palestine cause, calling out the police who dismantled encampments, those who labeled the protests anti-Semitic, and politicians who continue to support Israel. Macklemore debuted the track on Twitter/X, stating that all proceeds from “Hind’s Hall” on streaming platforms would go to UNRWA:
The lyrics against Biden are brief, but blunt enough:
The blood is on your hands, Biden, we can see it allAnd fuck no, I’m not voting for you in the fall.
Macklemore even works in a shot at Drake amid his feud with Kendrick Lamar: “I want a ceasefire/Fuck a response from Drake.”
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine posted some serious flattery:
Honestly @macklemore’s “Hind’s Hall
Biden has been the subject of criticism for his administration’s continued — but now conditional — support of Israel. He has condemned hate speech from both supporters and critics of Israel during these protests.
