Fox News anchor Bret Baier traveled to Ukraine to interview President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the frontlines as the two-year anniversary of the country’s war with Russia approaches.
The interview is set to air at 6pm ET on Fox News on Thursday, February 22nd on Special Report. It marks the first time the Ukrainian leader has been interviewed from the frontlines since the war began two years ago.
The pair discussed a variety of issues, including the debate on Capitol Hill over additional funding to Ukraine. Republican lawmakers, backed by former President Donald Trump, have refused to provide aid to Ukraine and Israel unless the Biden administration reverses key immigration policies.
Additionally, Baier and Zelenskyy spoke on Ukraine’s latest losses on the battlefield as Russia forces pushed Ukraine’s troops out of the eastern town of Avdiivka last week.
According to Fox News, the interview will also show Zelenskyy visiting injured troops, presenting medals to soldiers, and receiving military briefings from officers.
Baier reportedly plans to honor Fox News war correspondents Benjamin Hall, Pierre Zakrzewski, and Oleksandra Kuvshynova. Near the start of the invasion, Zakrzewski and Kuvshynova were killed while Hall was severely wounded after their vehicle was hit by a Russian projectile.
