Fox News spoke with a reserve brigadier general of Israel’s defense forces who praised the Biden administration’s solidarity with the country following the attack by Hamas.

Amir Avivi, a reserve brigadier general and the founder and CEO of Israel’s Defense and Security Forum (IDSF), spoke with Fox News anchor Mike Emanuel about the coordinated attack that left over 600 Israelis dead. As he described Israel’s mobilization of a counteroffensive against Hamas in Gaza, Avivi insisted that Iran is backing Hamas to destabilize Israel’s chances of forming an alliance with Saudi Arabia.

“This is why we see the president of the USA standing so strong with Israel and understanding that both countries’ basic interests are in danger,” Avivi said. “This is what we’re seeing now.”

As news of the attack broke out on Saturday, President Joe Biden denounced the “appalling” offensive and reaffirmed U.S. support for Israel. Meanwhile, Biden’s detractors claim that his administration allowed this to happen, some even running with the fact-checked claim that the administration gave $6 billion to Iran and subsequently enabled Hamas.

When Avivi was asked what he’d like to see from the U.S. government, he said “I want to thank you, President Biden and the whole administration, and the Congress and Senate, for standing with Israel, for assisting us with everything we need.”

“I think I

have one big request and this is standing strong against the one entity that is basically destabilizing the whole region, and this is Iran,” he continued. “We must stop Iran from becoming nuclear. We must hold a credible military threat against the Iranian buildup of nuclear capabilities. And this, by the way, will not only impact Iran. This will also deter Russia, China and will help building back U.S. leadership globally.”
