Social media erupted Sunday over the suspension of ABC News senior national correspondent Terry Moran over a deleted post in which he called White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller a “world class hater.”

“The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism,” Moran wrote in the deleted post. “Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy. But that’s not what’s interesting about Miller. It’s not brains. It’s bile. Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate. Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only a means to an end, and that end his his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment.”

ABC News in a statement (via CNN’s Brian Stelter) said Moran’s post was a violation of standards.

“ABC

News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others,” the network said. “The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards — as a result, Terry Moran has been suspended pending further evaluation.”

Pro-Trump media voices basked in ABC’s move to suspend their correspondent.

“Any actual news organization would fire him this minute,” wrote SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly.

“I’ve been telling you guys for years how much ABC News hates republicans,” added Meghan McCain — who previously served as a co-host of ABC’s The View.

Numerous MAGA influencers reacted similarly:

On the left, however, the move to punish Moran was denounced.

“This is utter bullshit @abcnews,” wrote former congressman Joe Walsh. “You’re the free press. You don’t do what the authoritarian in the White House tells you to do. Thank you @TerryMoran for having the courage to speak the truth.”

Zeteo’s Mehdi Hasan criticized those in the White House — including Vice President JD Vance — who blasted Moran.

“Snowflakes,” Hasan wrote on X. “Pretend free speech warriors. Getting journalists suspended and calling for their firing. Hypocrites.”

Here’s a sampling of others defending Moran:
