Joe Rogan pressed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on whether the 83-year-old lawmaker will run for president again, sparking a few moments of awkward silence after Rogan compared him to former President Joe Biden.
Sanders joined Rogan on Tuesday’s The Joe Rogan Experience and at one point, Rogan pressed the senator on whether another presidential run is in his future.
“Are you going to run for president again?” Rogan asked.
“I am 83 years of age,” Sanders said.
“That’s what I’m saying,” Rogan threw out with a laugh.
“You know, I’m not sure the American people will be enthusiastic on somebody’s 108th [birthday],” Sanders said.
“You’re still very with it!” Rogan offered.
“Thank you,” Sanders said.
Rogan then contrasted Sanders with Biden, 82, following numerous reports on internal concerns about Biden’s mental and physical stamina towards the end of his presidency, including from the bombshell book Original Sin by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson.
“I mean, you’re a couple years older than Biden,” Rogan told Sanders. “Think of that. You could be off a lot worse.”
“Yes, yes,” Sanders said, the podcast then going silent for nearly 10 seconds before the senator switched subjects and began talking about his Fighting Oligarchy tour appearances around the country.
