ESPN colleagues Stephen A. Smith and Pat McAfee recently had an “explosive” argument on the phone over creative differences, The New York Post reported Thursday.
According to the report, the argument centered around a to-be-announced project by Smith that will air on ESPN. The specifics of the argument are unknown, but things reportedly got so heated that McAfee called Smith a “motherfucker.”
Although sources told The Post Smith had banned McAfee from appearing on First Take, both of them explicitly said the matter had been resolved.
“I have nothing but love for Stephen A.,” McAfee said in a text message to the Post. “I think I’m still welcome on ‘First Take‘? I was scheduled through football season to join on Tuesdays, hopefully next year that’ll happen as well.”
