CNN senior political data reporter Harry Enten argued Tuesday’s presidential debate has bigger stakes for Vice President Kamala Harris than it does for former President Donald Trump.

Enten joined CNN’s Sara Sidner ahead of the Harris-Trump debate and pointed to polling on undecided voters when pointing out that Harris has more to gain or lose than Trump.

“I think most voters have made up their minds about Donald Trump, specifically undecided voters,” Enten said.

According to a New York Times/Siena College poll, 48% of undecided voters said they need to learn more about Harris while just 18% said the same about Trump. Among undecided voters in the same survey, only 8% said they have a positive view of Trump while 13% said the same about Harris. It’s Harris that has the opportunity to turn that number around, Enten argued.

“The bottom line is there’s a lot more room for movement for Kamala Harris than there is for Donald Trump. So the real question tonight is, can Kamala Harris seize this opportunity, seize the spotlight, put to rest fears that they may have about her?” Enten said. “Because the bottom line is undecided voters have already made up their mind about Donald Trump. They’re waiting to make up their mind about Kamala Harris and how they do so can make all the difference in the world at the end of the day come November.”

The data reporter added the debate could be Harris’s “last best chance” to convince undecided voters.

“The American electorate has made up their mind about Donald Trump,” Enten said. “They haven’t made up their mind about Kamala Harris, and this may be her last best chance to get them on her side of the equation and not go with the Republican nominee for president.”
