Former Bill Clinton pollster Doug Schoen said Tuesday that a cover-up by the “mainstream media” of President Joe Biden’s cognitive health throughout his term in office is “worthy” of being investigated.
Schoen told Fox News he did not necessarily wish to see any legal ramifications from such a probe, but he believed the media was derelict in its duty to cover the health of the president.
The issue of Biden’s mental acuity was raised on Sunday by CBS News correspondent Jan Crawford. On Face the Nation, Crawford told guest anchor Major Garrett the media “underreported” Biden’s “cognitive decline.” Crawford said:
We should have much more forcefully questioned whether he was fit for office for another four years, which could have led to a primary for the Democrats. It could have changed the scope of the entire election. Yet still, incredibly, we read in The Washington Post that his advisers are saying that he regrets that he dropped out of the race, that he thinks he could have beaten Trump. And I think that is either delusional or they’re gaslighting the American people.
The comments have sparked a wider debate about Biden’s ability to do his job. The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Biden was cognitively in decline.
On Tuesday’s Outnumbered, guest host Molly Line played Crawford’s comments and asked Schoen to respond. Citing the Journal report
In retrospect, it’s one of the great unreported stories of our time or any time. I think it is clear, given the Wall Street Journal’s excellent comprehensive reporting, that Joe Biden for a number of years, maybe even since 2021 or 2022, was not up to the job, and the mainstream media, for whatever reason, covered up for him. I think it’s worthy of an investigation, not to blame anyone for any illegal activity, but to understand what happened, why it happened, and how we can avoid it in the future. Because it’s clear Joe Biden was not up to the job and it’s clear that the American people both domestically and internationally suffered.
