Vice President JD Vance panned California Governor Gavin Newsom for mimicking President Donald Trump in social media posts.
Over the past week or so, Newsom’s official press account has been posting all-caps screeds on various matters in what is a clear attempt to mock Trump’s online diatribes. Conservatives have responded by criticizing Newsom’s posts as “foolish” and “childish,” while generally ignoring the fact that the posts are intended to mock Trump.
On Wednesday’s edition of The Ingraham Angle on Fox News, Vance acknowledged the strategy behind the posts, but said the governor does not understand that Trump is “authentic.”
Laura Ingraham told Vance that Democrats seem to believe that “they need to kind of be more like Trump in tone, tougher, have nicknames. Newsom’s given you a nickname, which I don’t even understand, called ‘Just Dance Vance.'”
Ingraham called it “the dumbest nickname” asked Vance, “How lost are the Democrats right now?”
“Stop sounding like crazy people,” he advised Democrats. “That’s really is all it is. This idea that Gavin Newsom is somehow gonna mimic Donald Trump’s style, I think that ignores the fundamental genius of President Trump’s political success, which is that he’s authentic. He just is who he is. You’ve gotta be yourself. You’ve actually gotta talk
Vance then pivoted to attack crime and Democrats calling Trump a “fascist” for sending the National Guard into Washington, D.C.
