Surprise! Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) — he of “Shut up, you don’t get a lawyer!” fame — is a-okay with the National Security Agency secretly collecting the phone records of millions of Verizon customers.

Why? Well, he’s got nothing to hide, of course. And neither do many of you Verizon customers. So we should all just be “glad” that to turn over our records so that the government can find terrorists.

“I’m glad the NSA is trying to find out what the terrorists are up to overseas and in our country,” Graham said this morning on Fox & Friends.

He continued:

“I’m a Verizon customer. I don’t mind Verizon turning over records to the government if the government is going to make sure that they try to match up a known terrorist phone with somebody in the United States. I don’t think you’re talking to the terrorists. I know you’re not. I know I’m not. So we don’t have anything to worry about.”

Graham then attempted once

more to defend the NSA’s secretive actions as part of a greater goal of hunting down terrorists on a domestic level, seemingly neglecting the criticisms that come with operating a surveillance program that blanket tracks the records of people not even suspected of a crime. “I’m glad that activity is going on, but it is limited to tracking people who are suspected to be terrorists and who they may be talking to,” he assured the hosts.

“I’m sure we should be doing this,” he concluded.
