Fox News’ Bret Baier and his fellow anchors admitted that there remains some “confusion” over President Donald Trump’s funding freeze order.

The Office of Management and Budget rescinded a memo declaring that federal aid funding would be put on pause on Wednesday after a federal judge blocked its implementation.

“OMB Memorandum M-25-13 is rescinded. If you have questions about implementing the President’s Executive Orders, please contact your agency General Counsel,” the latest memo states.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later took to X and claimed nothing was actually rescinded.

“This is NOT a rescission of the federal funding freeze,” she wrote. “It is simply a rescission of the OMB memo. Why? To end any confusion created by the court’s injunction. The President’s EO’s on federal funding remain in full force and effect, and will be rigorously implemented.”

“She said that’s to end any confusion. I don’t know if it did for us, but we’re working on it,” America Reports anchor Sandra Smith said on Wednesday when reporting the news.

Baier gave his takeaway from the multiple messages from Trump’s administration and admitted things could have been explained far better.

Baier argued:

Here’s how I digest that and this is just my interpretation. The executive orders going after DEI and that funding, that specifically he has a problem

with, is still in place, meaning they will scour all of these funds, and if anything deals with that it will be stopped. However, the blanket, where everybody thinks that the money has stopped and any of these organizations around the country that they had a problem with is gone, so they take the federal judge out of it. The injunction, they believe, stops, because the funding still flowing. Here’s the bottom line, though. This was handled pretty ham handily at the beginning. I think they could have explained it a lot better. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin had a really big X post where he said, here’s what’s not included as far as I can see. And I just think because of that Democrats said, this is it, let’s jump on it. This is the thing that we can really take to the bank and really make a big deal out of. I don’t know if they politically will be able to but right now there is still a little confusion about how it’s going back and forth.

America Reports anchor John Roberts added that the “confusion” doesn’t appear to be solved as New York Attorney General Letitia James declared that she still plans on filing a lawsuit over the original memo.

“There would seem to be a lot of confusion. Even New York Attorney General Leititia James just tweeted, this is more

confusion and chaos. We will be in court this afternoon,” he said.
