New Jersey Governor Chris Christie revealed an interesting tidbit while filling in as guest host on WFAN’s Boomer & Carton morning sports radio show in New York.
Christie, who occasionally appears on the show with his pal Craig Carton when former Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason is away, recounted that during this week’s trip to the White House, President Donald Trump ordered Christie to eat the meatloaf.
“This is what it’s like to be with Trump,” Christie said on WFAN. “He says, ‘There’s the menu, you guys order whatever you want.; And then he says, ‘Chris, you and I are going to have the meatloaf.'”
Christie apparently didn’t have much of a choice.
The Jersey guv was joined by his wife Mary Pat for a Valentine’s Day lunch at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but Carton was undeterred from ribbing his pal Christie over the ordeal. “It’s emasculating,” said Carton in his usual bravado that is well known to New York sports fans and longtime listeners of WFAN. “Another man tells you what you eat and you eat it? Not acceptable. I don’t care who he is.”
As President Trump said at the time to his guests, “I’m telling you, the meatloaf is fabulous.”
Now, is this nearly as big of a deal as many in the media are going to make it out to be?
But, I have a feeling that if the rumors are true that Christie (after his gubernatorial duties are up) could be in consideration to replace longtime WFAN host Mike 10-Diet-Cokes-a-Show Francesca, I wouldn’t be the only New York sports fan willing to tune in to the coveted afternoon slot.
