Included in that meeting will be the RNC Chair Reince Priebus. The meeting comes just days after Trump effectively removed himself from an earlier pledge to support the eventual nominee of the Republican party, a sticking point that has become contentious given the unique outsider-nature of the GOP nomination effort in 2016.
Trump has long said that he would consider a third-party run is he was at all treated “unfairly” by the Republican establishment. Going back as far as last summer, it was largely deemed to be a campaign tactic by the real estate mogul to further drive a separation between himself and establishment lane politics; to date, this approach seems to have worked with unexpected success, as Trump’s 726 current delegates indicate.
