Kari Lake declared she’s “not perfect” and may have made some mistakes in her past comments about fellow Republicans, but insisted politics is a “rough and tumble game.”
MSNBC’s Vaughn Hillyard quickly caught up with Lake after she cast her ballot in Arizona’s presidential primary. She said she voted for Donald Trump.
“There has been a lot of talk about you extending olive branches to some conservatives here in the state who you had spurned previously. My question to you is do you regret any of your past statements about Republicans in this state?” Hillyard asked.
Lake, a staunch Trump supporter, has feuded with fellow Republicans. Most recently, she tried extending an olive branch to Meghan McCain by offering to sit down and talk. McCain responded by assuring her there will be “no peace.” Lake famously referred to the late John McCain, a vocal critic of Trump, and other Republicans like him as losers.
“You know what, we’re all human. We make mistakes occasionally. I do as well and I’m not perfect and I never want to hurt anyone’s feelings. But, you know, politics is a rough and tumble game and sometimes things are said,” Lake said.
Lake, currently aiming for a Senate seat in Arizona, continued insisting she was the victim of fraud in her 2022 gubernatorial race in Arizona despite her numerous losses in court since
“Right now we have a lot of issues facing our country and we need to come together as Americans to solve these problems. And I think we will. I know we are,” she said. “I’m seeing it every day. I’m all over the state. I’m all over the country and people say, thank you for being a fighter, fighting for our rights, fighting for security, and here in Arizona, I’m given the same exact response.”
