President Donald Trump has once again called on his fellow Republicans to “TERMINATE” the filibuster amid the government shutdown, saying the GOP cannot afford to be “WEAK AND STUPID” because the “survival” of the USA is at stake.

The president prodded his party members in a Truth Social post on Saturday evening. Trump said Democrats will find a way to eliminate the filibuster when he leaves office and warp the country to their liking, if Republicans don’t beat them to the punch.

“Remember, Republicans, regardless of the Schumer Shutdown, the Democrats will terminate the Filibuster the first chance they get. They will Pack the Supreme Court, pick up two States, and add at least 8 Electoral Votes,” Trump posted. “Their two objectors are gone!!! Don’t be WEAK AND STUPID. FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! WIN, WIN, WIN!”

He continued:

“We will immediately END the Extortionist Shutdown, get ALL of our agenda passed, and make life so good for Americans that these  DERANGED DEMOCRAT politicians will never again have a chance to DESTROY

AMERICA! Republicans, you will rue the day that you didn’t TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER!!! BE TOUGH, BE SMART, AND WIN!!! This is much bigger than the Shutdown, this is the survival of our Country!”

Trump’s Saturday night post comes just two days after he demanded Republicans kill the filibuster.

As Mediaite’s Michael Luciano explained:

The federal government partially shut down on Oct. 1 after the Senate failed to pass a funding bill to keep the government open. Although Republicans control the Senate 53-47, 60 votes are required to invoke cloture, which ends debate on legislation before a simple up-and-down vote is taken on a bill. Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his conference are withholding their support of the Republican funding bill until it is amended to include an extension of healthcare premium subsidies for Obamacare recipients.

There has been no news reported on Saturday that indicates the shutdown will be coming to a close anytime soon, 32 days after it started.
