Former President Donald Trump demanded attorneys general in GOP-dominated states investigate former Speaker Nancy Pelosi because her husband sold Visa shares.
Paul Pelosi offloaded the stock a few months before the federal government sued the company in an antitrust lawsuit that accused the credit giant of monopolistic practices.
According to Fox Business, Pelosi sold 2,000 shares of the stock on July 1st for approximately $500,000. However, it is not known if Pelosi made any profit from the transaction. The Justice Department announced their lawsuit against Visa earlier this week.
During a rally on Friday in Michigan, Trump falsely claimed that Pelosi sold the Visa stock the day before the DOJ made its announcement. He went on to demand the former speaker and her husband be investigated.
TRUMP: So I’m not much into this stuff, but visa crashed because the government went after. The government filed a big suit against Visa. Nancy and her husband sold their stock the day before it was announced.[CROWD BOOS]TRUMP: Nancy Pelosi. So why don’t we get some AG somewhere, like in a Republican territory, and why don’t we get them to, do a little investigation? Sold the Visa stock! Are you listening? They’re probably turning off the cameras now.
