Former President Donald Trump revealed a curious misunderstanding of the time-space continuum Friday morning when he blasted Special Counsel Jack Smith for not having the precognitive skills to file charges before the alleged crimes took place.

Smith has filed several felony charges against the former president, focusing on Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, but also election fraud that included fake electors and led to the riots of Trump supporters at the Capitol building on January 6th, 2021.

Trump has long maintained his innocence in every matter that he is being charged with, but in these cases, he insists it’s all due to “Election Interference” by the Biden administration. He took to social media Friday morning and hit that same note but with a curious, or erroneous, timeline at play.

Trump posted on Truth Social:Why didn’t the Deranged Jack Smith “Team” file their lawsuit 3 years ago? Because they wanted to file it right in the middle of my campaign, that’s why. Now, all of a sudden, they want to RUSH.

ELECTION INTERFERENCE!

First of all, the Special Counsel didn’t file any “lawsuits.” These are charges of federal crimes, many of which are deadly serious and could send Trump and his election-disrupting minions to prison.

More importantly, three years ago was December 15th, 2020. The fraudulent slates of electors were largely just a concept and had not yet been presented at the electoral certification that had happened three weeks later, on January 6th.

There were reports of “alternate electors,” but of course, the details and scope of the alleged conspiracy to defraud the American public of a democratically run election? Well, the crimes weren’t charged three years ago because, for the most part, the crimes hadn’t yet happened.

As for the alleged mishandling of classified documents, the Nationa Archives gave Trump numerous opportunities to return documents in his possession. His Palm Beach residence was only searched, and the documents were seized when he failed to comply, which happened in August of 2022.
