Democratic members of Congress are launching a “master ICE tracker” to keep tabs on federal agents looking to round up immigrants across the country, a move the agency likens to putting “a target on ICE agents’ back.”

Rep. Rob Garcia (D-CA), the top Democrat on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, pitched the tracker in Los Angeles on Tuesday while standing alongside LA Mayor Karen Bass (D).

“Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the Oversight Committee will be launching on their website, a master ICE tracker where we’re gonna be essentially tracking every single instance that we can verify that the community will send us information on,” said Garcia.

The news came as Garcia announced that the committee would be launching an investigation into the Department of Homeland Security.

“American citizens are being dragged off the streets by masked men and thrown into detention cells without access to a lawyer or even a phone call,” Garcia said. “No one, regardless of their background or appearance, should be living in fear of being thrown behind bars by their own government because of their race or what they look like.”

“Their actions are unconstitutional, unacceptable, and completely un-American, and we will not stop fighting until this Administration is held accountable,” he added.

The ICE tracker was brought up on Wednesday’s edition America’s Newsroom on Fox News,

where co-host Bill Hemmer asked Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons what he would say to Garcia.

“I think what I would say to him is the fact that if he wants to put a target on ICE agents’ back, so be it,” Lyons said. “He shouldn’t hide behind the fact that he wants to make his community safe. We’ve already seen from the Dallas shooting that apps like those are giving a map to a hit man. So he is not protecting his community.”

He added that Garcia “is putting the men and women of law enforcement at risk.”

“Do they track the FBI and DEA? They don’t. I wish elected officials would talk to us and see exactly who we are arresting and see the public safety steps thrown out. The men and women of ICE are being targeted for doing a law enforcement mission and it is coming from elected officials and it has to stop,” argued Lyons.
