Things got very fiery between MSNBC host Ari Melber and former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon over President Donald Trump and his weak polling among women voters.
Melber began by asking Bannon what the “Time’s Up” movement means to him, which he interpreted as the “end of the patriarchy,” adding he’s not “100%” with them but sees it as a “powerful political force.”
The MSNBC host then shifted to Trump’s historically-low gender gap that has gotten worse since the 2016 election.
“Is this party walking away from women voters or college educated women voters?” Melber asked.
Bannon pointed to how Trump beat Hillary Clinton among white women and that minority women contributed to the gap.
“The question is,” Melber interrupted, “is Trump walking away and walking the GOP away-”
“He’s definitely not walking away,” Bannon responded. “Look at Ivanka [Trump]. I think Ivanka has been engaged in women’s issues… I think you see the way Donald Trump has a terrific relationship with his daughter and his wife shows what he thinks about this.”
Bannon then mentioned the Access Hollywood tape, which he referred to as “Billy Bush Weekend,” and what he dismissed as “locker room talk” and how he “brought” the people that former President Bill Clinton “actually molested” to the
“I think that the American people weighed and measured that and voted in November,” Bannon continued.
Melber then pressed Bannon if Trump’s accusers and Roy Moore‘s accusers “should be heard” like Clinton’s accusers.
“If they want to come forward, they should come forward,” Bannon said.
He went on to reject the accusations made against the failed Alabama senate candidate.
