Trump went on a riff that sounded an awful lot like the statement he already put out about the letter, essentially blaming the letter’s authors for the state of the Middle East, and accusing them of trying to gain publicity, as Bartiromo lapped it up:
Trump: They don’t feel relevant, and because of that they form a group go out and try to get publicity for themselves, they hope that
somebody else other than Trump wins because that way they can get a job.Bartiromo: I think you make a really good point, it was that exactly that the people fighting against, this elitism, something that you have squarely put on the front of the table here.
The letter comes after a particularly bad week for Trump, and along with the news that Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) won’t be supporting his candidacy, figures to trip up his attempt at a reset with Monday’s economic speech.
