Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones offered some sage advice to former President Donald Trump on the eve of the ABC Presidential Debate: Don’t let Vice President Kamala Harris bait you into being racist or sexist.

Tuesday evening’s debate between Trump and Harris is the only debate that both campaigns have agreed to—thus far. Given that the polls show a deadlocked race and that this could likely be the only time the nation sees the two face off, the stakes are remarkably high for both candidates’ performances.

The Fox News morning show featured co-hosts offering insights and analysis largely designed to offer helpful advice to one of their most loyal viewers, Donald Trump, whom they mainly all support. Jones’s commentary stood out as a means to help the Republican candidate exhibit a bit of discipline during Tuesday night’s tilt.

Donald Trump is in a peculiar situation right now because when you look at the polling data amongst, you know, Latinos, Black voters, you see these gains happening,” Jones started. “And there’s a case for all these people saying that they were better off under his economy. You want to keep those voters right there?”

“Well, Kamala Harris is going to try to do is get him into this race war, right?” he said. “To be vicious, to attack her as a woman. Don’t put voters in that

position where they have to choose between their economic situation and feeling sympathetic or personal.”

“He can’t get personal,” Ainsley Earhadt said in agreement.

“I’m not saying that it is fair,” Jones said of his perception of how Kamala Harris may debate, even though she’s largely avoided the identity politics approach Hillary Clinton so heavily leaned into in 2016. “I’m not saying that — she may not…She may go low and call him a racist on the stage. But his response should be, ‘You said that about Joe Biden too, and you went to work for him.’ So you have to be very strategic at that, because they want ads of him eviscerating her from her personality and her being a woman.”

Some readers may see a level of irony here as Trump has repeatedly attacked reporters of color who are women as being stupid, which has elected reactions that Trump himself is sexist and racist.
