CNN commentator Bakari Sellers offered a surprising assessment of the $400 sneakers Donald Trump is selling, saying he’d wear them but for one not-so-minor hangup.

On Monday’s edition of The Lead, guest-hosted by Kaitlan Collins, she noted that the former president unveiled the footwear at something called SneakerCon on Saturday – one day after a judge in Manhattan ordered him to pay $354 million for defrauding banks and insurance companies.

“He was hawking these $400 gold sneakers called the “Never Surrender High Tops” that apparently, I believe sold out,” she told Sellers. “But I just wonder what you make of this, given, obviously he’s going to get a cut of this, obviously, he’s facing intense legal expenses. And this is something that we’ve seen him do time and time again, whether it’s the trading cards [and] now, gold sneakers.”

“I mean, these Air Impeachments just simply are not going to sell,” he replied before referencing some of the criticisms Barack Obama received while in office. “I don’t know if you recall, but they gave the 44th president of the United States of America so much hell because he used the selfie stick or because he wore a brown suit. I mean, people literally said that was beneath the office. And here, you have a former president of the United States running for president again who&

#8217;s hawking these.”

Sellers then offered a surprising compliment.

“They actually don’t look that bad,” he said, prompting Collins to laugh.

He then referred to the shoes as “Air January Sixes,” a reference to the Capitol riot Trump incited.

“Look, I might rock them if they weren’t like, Air January Sixes,” he continued as Collins cracked up. “They don’t look that bad. But no, this is literally beneath the office and I think most Americans have become desensitized. We used the hold the president of the United States to a higher standard. Now you can look at your child and be like, “I don’t want you to be like Donald Trump. Be something else.”

“Air January Sixes might be the quote of the day,” Collins concluded
