According to a just-published report by The Daily Beast, Fox News host Sean Hannity has been advising President Donald Trump on the Rep. Devin Nunes memo, urging him to release it.
The publication cites three unnamed White House sources, who each have alleged Trump has been in “regular contact” contact with Hannity in recent weeks. This also aligns with Hannity’s recent coverage of the memo, which has made a habit out of plastering #ReleaseTheMemo in the chyron or on the screen behind the anchor.
These sources made reference to Hannity’s recurring segments on the memo, alleging Trump and the Fox News host discuss it during their phone calls, with one source noting the pair have talked about how the memo will “shed light on the alleged anti-Trump bias” at the FBI.
One source even referred to Hannity as “Senior counselor to the president, Sean H.”
This should not exactly come as a surprise to anyone, as the friendship between Trump and Hannity has been frequently noted, with The Hill reporting in October that
We have covered several occasions of Hannity hyping up the Nunes memo, going as far as to say that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s “corrupt and biased investigation needs to be shutdown once and for all” and that it “makes Watergate like stealing a Snickers bar.”
CNN reported earlier today that Trump is likely to release the memo tomorrow, and that sources have told the news organization that he’s been telling friends that it would make it “easier for him to argue the Russia investigations are prejudiced against him.”
The White House has not responded to a request for comment.
