RELATED: Katie Holmes And Tom Cruise To Divorce
His tweets came in the context of the unbelievably tragic and dangerously uninteresting divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Very early this morning, Murdoch tweeted, “Scientology back in news. Very weird cult, but big, big money involved with Tom Cruise either number two or three in hiearchy [sic].” Yes, apparently there is a conspiracy so big, it goes all the way up to Tom Cruise. (Resist urge to make easy height joke…)
See, amidst all the details that I have no interest in since I detest gossip (except political gossip, totally different), one of the reasons TomKat is splitting up is that Katie Holmes never really felt comfortable with
But we’re getting off-track here. Let’s stick with Murdoch. He followed up his first tweet with one only moderately less striking: “Watch Katie Holmes and Scientology story develop. Something creepy, maybe even evil, about these people.”
In response to that tweet, someone shot back at him, “What about Mormons?” Murdoch’s reply? “Mormonism a mystery to me, but Mormons certainly not evil.”
See, it’s totally okay to call Scientologists evil, because Scientologists are never going to make it in political office, so you’re not going to anger a lot of people with that. Sorry, important people. Because people have been giving Murdoch a thrashing on Twitter. And when I say people, I mean a group so out there, Wikipedia had to ban them from making any edits. Of course, I’m sure there were perfectly reasonable people who were simply objecting to Murdoch’s views on the issue of fairness and respect. Oh, wait, sorry, I forgot this was Twitter we were talking about.
Murdoch took notice of all the negative feedback, and ended his twirade with this observation: “Since Scientology tweet hundreds of attacks. Expect they will increase and get worse and maybe threatening. Still stick to my story.”
