President Donald Trump slammed Democrats — and Germany — on Monday morning in response to a growing outcry over his administration’s policy of separating migrant children from families at the southern border.

Trump first doubled down on blaming Democrats for the policy his own Attorney General Jeff Sessions implemented in April (and could reverse), and asked why there’s no “outcry” in response to crime committed by illegal immigrants.

Trump then trained his sights on Germany, which has experienced problems with assimilation since it took in millions fleeing the Middle East during the European migrant crisis.

“The people of Germany are turning against their leadership as migration is rocking the already tenuous Berlin coalition,” Trump wrote. “Crime in Germany is way up. Big mistake made all over Europe in allowing millions of people in who have so strongly and violently changed their culture!”

In May, Germany’s interior minister announced that crime in Germany dropped by five percent since last year, to its lowest level in 30 years.

week at the G7 summit, has faced political headwinds in the country since she implemented an open-door policy in 2015 in an effort to lead the way in response to the refugee crisis. Over the weekend, a clash between Merkel and Germany’s interior minister over the immigration policy threatened to undermine her three month old coalition government.

“We don’t want what is happening with immigration in Europe to happen with us!” Trump added.
