The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin blasted former FBI Director James Comey’s controversial “86 47” post as “stupid” and “irresponsible,” saying it could “incite” someone to violence against President Donald Trump.
Comey’s post was met with swift backlash as he was accused of pushing for violence against the president since “86” is an often-used term meaning to eliminate or remove. Comey posted an image where shells made out the message “86 47” and he wrote, “Cool shell formation on my beach walk.”
The former FBI director has since said he was unaware of the more nefarious meaning of the term “86.”
“I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down,” he said about his post.
“The Comey post was stupid & irresponsible. It’s a not a direct threat & would be protected under the 1A.
She followed up by trashing Comey as a longtime “partisan” giving a bad look to the FBI.
“Also spare me ‘Kash Patel is the first partisan FBI director’ — James Comey has been telling on himself as a partisan for years. It’s secondary but this post hardly helps the career FBI officials who actually strive to be apolitical in fighting the narrative many of them are,” Griffin wrote.
In an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, Trump blasted Comey’s explanation for his post, saying he believes Comey was fully aware of the message he was sending.
“If you’re FBI director and don’t know what that meant, that meant assassination and it says it cloud and clear,” he said. “He wasn’t very competent but competent enough to know what that meant. He did it for a reason and he was hit so hard because people like me and like what was happening with our country. All this, he is calling for assassination of the president.”
