New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu hit back at Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) for his attacks on Nikki Haley, whom Sununu has endorsed for president.

The Granite State governor endorsed Haley last month, since which time she has risen in the polls there to inch closer to frontrunner and former President Donald Trump. Paul, meanwhile, has launched an anti-Haley blitz, complete with a “Never Nikki” website

“I’m absolutely dead certain Nikki Haley would be wrong for our country,” said Paul, who likened her to former Vice President Dick Cheney. “And I do have some voice. I want to make sure my voice is heard.”

Appearing on Newsmax on Friday, Sununu was asked about Paul’s push.

“What does this mean for her campaign?” the host asked.

“What does Rand Paul mean? Nothing,” Sununu responded. “I’m sorry, but nobody cares what Rand Paul thinks in this race. This race is in Iowa and New Hampshire, it’s in South Carolina. She’s the only candidate that’s surging.”

The governor went on to dismiss Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ chances by saying, “We’ve made it effectively a one-on-one race at this point between Nikki and Donald Trump.”

Later in the interview, Sununu reiterated that Paul’s opinions about the Republican primary are meaningless.

“Maybe when the U.S. Senate actually starts doing something and actually

starts delivering some results, they can stand on a soapbox and think that their words matter,” he said. “But until then, sorry, Rand Paul. nobody cares.”

Sununu has said that if Trump defeats Haley for the nomination, he will support the former president, who is under criminal indictment in four jurisdictions.
