During a Wednesday evening interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani offered a jaw-dropping clarification over alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia interference in the 2016 general election.
“I never said there was no collusion between the campaign or between people in the campaign,” Giuliani said, before falsely claiming he had always said there was no collusion between the President and Russia.
Except he had. And so has President Trump. Repeatedly.
So the cable news morning news programs jumped all over this Thursday morning. MSNBC’s Morning Joe and CNN’s New Day led with this stunning development.
So how did Fox News’ Fox & Friends cover this significant development in the biggest news story of the last two years?
They didn’t. They completely ignored it.
Which is strange since, over the past year and a half, the claim “there’s no evidence of collusion” has been persistently repeated on the pro-Trump morning show.
Since the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, in March 2017, his probe has led to dozens of indictments and guilty pleas. Throughout, Trump and Giuliani have repeatedly claimed that there was no collusion between the campaign and Trump. Until last night’s interview.
So it is stunning that Fox & Friends producers and talent would completely ignore Giuliani’s tacit admission that there may, in fact, have been collusion between
Fox & Friends First, the show that airs before Fox & Friends, however, DID cover the interview briefly, which you can watch below:
