Fox News reporter Bill Melugin asked former President Donald Trump about potentially pardoning Hunter Biden in the event Trump returns to the White House.
The ex-president campaigned in Tempe, Arizona on Thursday, where Melugin asked about Biden, who was found guilty on three federal felony gun charges in June. In a separate case in September, the son of President Joe Biden pleaded guilty to three felonies and six misdemeanors stemming from federal tax offenses.
“You’ve talked about wanting to unify the country if you’re elected,” Melugin said. “If you are president again, in the name of unity, would you consider pardoning Hunter Biden?”
“Well, I wouldn’t do anything that would be overt in terms of Hunter,” Trump replied. “It’s a sad situation.”
He then took a detour and said, “I could’ve done that with Hillary Clinton.”
Trump referenced his rallies in 2016, where he floated the idea of prosecuting Clinton and encouraged chants of “Lock her up!” In doing so, he rewrote the history of those rallies.
“And I tamped it down,” he said. “When you saw that, they’re going, ‘Lock her up, lock her up.’ And I was going, ‘Nice and easy.’ People don’t remember that.”

“And they’ve used the department of injustice to go after their political opponent,” he said of the Biden administration. “And it has never been done in this country.”
“I don’t wanna do that,” he insisted. “It’s so bad for the country.”
He then returned to Hunter Biden.
“I’ll bet you the father probably pardons him,” Trump said. “Let’s see what happens. But he’s a bad boy. There’s no question about it. But I don’t wanna hurt people.”
