Florida Doctor Tells Obama Voters To Go Somewhere Else For Care

video

A Florida urologist is making news today for posting a sign on his office door that states “If you voted for Obama, seek urological care elsewhere. Dr. Jack Cassell. Local radio host Bud Hedinger was on Fox News today to discuss this and claimed that “people were on fire about this story and almost unanimously backing the doctor’s right to free speech.”

Hedinger continued to defend Dr. Cassell claiming, “he doesn’t quiz you. He’ll give you the same care if you voted for Barack Obama as anyone else because he’s not going to know he’s not going to ask. Kind of his version of ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.’” Mediaite is hearing that Dr. Cassell is set to appear with Neil Cavuto, also on Fox News, later today.

Good for him! If people don’t like they can go elsewhere. Of course Dr. Cassell is now going to be called a racist and even worse might end up on Olbermann’s Worst Person List…OH NO!!!

  • Olby Sucks

    This is only the beginning!

  • Big Sir

This doctor has the right idea. I wish more doctors would follow in his footsteps. Hopefully we’ll see a whole list of doctors across the country go on strike against the healthcare bill. That would be something 90% of Americans would stand behind!

  • m

That doctor should just move to another country if he can’t put up and stand up behind our Commander in Chief.

  • writer

taxed, I agree. Olbermann will have to move O’Reilly to second place for a night.

  • Snipzor

Of course this took place in Florida. I’m not surprised at some of the stupid things that go on there, and we are talking major league stupidity.

    He is John Galt.

  • same2u

I have no problem with him doing that. It is lost revenue for him. And there are plenty of doctors who pursue medicine for the right reasons who will be happy to get paid.

  • Snipzor

    (Off-Topic)

Atlas Shrugged was still probably the crappiest book I’ve read. Why is it that nobody talks about the Fountainhead? That book is infinitely better, because it was good. Also, John Galt is Andrew Ryan… not really a good thing to call someone if you ask me. No spoilers ;)

I’ve heard that many, many doctors are taking early retirement packages due to health care “reform.” What effect will that be having?

Pretty safe to say this is one of your most stupid comments, of course there have been a lot ot pick from.

    And of course:

    Like Alan Grayson?

  • same2u

None, since it is right wing hyperbole.

We found something we actually agree on!!! The Fountainhead is significantly better than Atlas Shrugged (although if I was Rand’s editor, both of them would have been at least 50% shorter; I’d love to take a red pencil to her writings).

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

    Hmmm…what a great idea.

From now on I’m only going to serve liberals at my restaurant.

“If you voted for McCain please take your hunger elsewhere”.

    What a great country!

  • Snipzor

I actually did take a red pen to Atlas Shrugged, but then I stopped because I realized I still had a +1000 pages to go. To which I said to myself “To hell with this, I won’t waste my time”, impossible to read without cringing at all the useless sections of the book, my god I’m going to PTSD just thinking about it. *shivers*

I always tell people, if you want to read Atlas Shrugged, just go play Bioshock. It’s more fun, it’s better written, and the actually philosophical arguments made against Rand are quite interesting and well thought out. Although the Fountainhead I would scratch out entire sections at the end, they just drag on without going anywhere. Ayn Rand was quite a bad writer in terms of being able to write a captivating book. She couldn’t do it, really.

Only in MY state of Florida!!! I love it here but it is definately a totally right wing state. It may have gone blue last election but I sure can’t understand how. I have lived here five years and haven’t met many sane people. A man tried to run me off the road because I had an Obama sticker on my car during the election. When I was stopped at a red light others would blow their horns and point. Scary things happen here.

  • writer

“Do you serve conservatives at this restaurant?”

    “No, we don’t.”

    “Then I’ll have the veal.”

    Badda bing!

  • felixw

Don’t jump to any conclusions based on one urologist. I have a hunch that Obamacare has more in common with proctology.

  • Grammie

    It’s still a free country.

  • JoeSierra

Dr. Cassell has been reviewed by 759 patients. The rating is 1.5 out of 4 stars.

Does this surprise anyone? Even his conservative patients don’t like him!

I wonder how Dr. Cassell would feel if he were in a car accident and the paramedics refuse to treat him because he is a conservative. Or if the owner of his building refused to rent offices to him because he is a conservative. Or if his house were on fire and fireman refused to come put out the fire because he is a conservative. This man is no hero. he sounds like a petty, angry ideologue.

  • Billy

The “reviews” you site are based purely on politics…. take a look at the individual comments. He now has over 800 comments; he had none before yesterday.

  • http://www.sailrabbits.com Magister

The doc has the right to express his political point of view within the limits of his contract, so I assume that being a private practice physician, he probably owns the company and can do however he likes.

With that said… radio voice looks funny in a moving picture.

  • TylerDurdin

Good for him. BHO can’t force him to. Not yey, anyway.

  • RNinMtDora

I believe in free speech – yes, its a great thing. But to post a sign like that when you are a doctor is wrong, he should have posted “I am against healthcare reform, do you want to discuss our views.” Yes, lots of doc’s are mad because the 20% cut is starting tomorrow morning, but these doctors, such as he, should look back at the hypocratic oath they took and remember why they went into healthcare to begin with. I know Dr. Cassell as I have worked with him in the hospital, and even though most of those reviews are from this political storm, I can back those reviews from voiced complaints of patients. I currently work for a doctor who backs Obama and his healthcare reform. Lake County is majorly conservative as well as most the doctors that are around here. I think medicine should not be about the money, but about ensuring the well-beings of others. I believe a lot of doctors get caught up with the money, the materialistic things and forget about true medicine. I look at some of the older docs we have at the hospital – who are in their late 50s and early 60s. They live in quaint houses, drive normal cars – camrys or hondas. They are normal and into healthcare, I look at these docs, 45 and younger – they all have to have the luxury cars, houses, and its all about status. Now tell me, of course they are not for Obamacare – why do that – they are losing money and losing that status.

He is a doctor but he is getting unprofessional. If that doctor is against the bill, he should tell it to the President. He should not let the patients suffer for his stubborn post on his clinic. That’s bad.

  • http://tamayorox.blogspot.com Roxanne

That is bad. The patients are suffering with his stupidity.

  • shootfromthehip

This is scary and reminds me of pre-war Nazi Germany. The victim group is separated from the regular citizens and dehumanized. The Obama voters don’t need health care? Are they not human? This is sick and wrong for any real reputable Doctor who took an oath. By identifying Jews as different, evil, and even non-human, Nazis had little problem accepting and even approving of the mass murder of Jews.

  • felixw

According to shootfromthehip, a physician sending patients to another doctor is like Nazis involved in the mass murder of Jews. What kind of twisted mind could even begin to come up with such comparisons?
