HuffPost Calls Bloggers’ Lawsuit ‘Baseless’

The Huffington Post has responded to news that the site, along with founder Arianna Huffington and Aol, is being sued by a group of bloggers dissatisfied with the website’s policy of not paying its non-staff contributors.

HuffPost representative Mario Ruiz said that, while Huffington has yet to see the lawsuit, such a suit would be “completely baseless:”

Our bloggers utilize our platform to connect and ensure that their ideas and views are seen by as many people as possible. It’s the same reason hundreds of people go on TV shows — to broadcast their views to as wide an audience as possible.

It’s an argument the Huffington Post has consistently used when presented with such complaints. And they do have a success story to back this up: Greg Gutfeld, for one, went from writing a humorous column on the Huffington Post to becoming host of Fox News’ Red Eye.

Yeah it was amazing. One day Greg Gutfeld was born, then he got a job at HufPo, Greg goes on to live happily ever. Next Ari will be suing ” FOX NEWS ” and Rupert Murdoch claiming credit for the huge success of RED EYE with Greg Gutfeld.

The suit is ridiculous. Then again when 99% of your posters are of the social justice/I have less because you have more variety, it isn’t that shocking.

ps- Alex, Greg was the editor of Maxim UK and Stuff before the Fox gig. I think Andy Levy was discovered through his responses to Greg’s posts on HuffPo.

Thank you my friend…….and when I call you ‘ my friend ‘ I mean it in the same way John McCain means it when he says it across the isle to a democrat…..so don’t get yourself too excited OK?

Not to be stridently literal, but it’s worth remembering that John Boehner by and large probably does mean that when he says it. Tons of politicians are friends despite ideology. In fact, Tom Coburn was/is very friendly with Obama, and I’ve heard the same said of Boehner himself. It’s like a sporting event in which the teams hug or shake hands afterwards — you want to think your side is stoicly disgusted by those who don’t see things their way, but on a personal level it’s pretty rarely true.

Pardon me, I read that clumsily: John McCain, not John Boehner. I’ll grant you McCain is a much more tightly wound guy, infamously so in political circles, so that example might be right. Broadly speaking I suspect they all get along okay, though.

Oh yeah your absolutely correct about Boehner though. He’ll reach across the aisle with outstreched had at every turn. He’s very chumy with the democrats.

THAT’S WHY THAT SOB OF A SELLOUT COULDN’T NEGOTIATE HIS WAY OUT OF A PAPER BAG MUST GO……..AND HE MUST GO NOW.

Nice chatting with you Chris. We’ll have to do this again real soon my friend.
