Why would she hesitate in asking her to describe it?  I don’t get why anyone would even ask for a “black woman’s purse”.  Sounds like they were waiting for a discriminating answer.

Don’t put the public schools down – put the parents of the students down.  They are the ones who are not doing their job to educate their children.  The teachers, with a load of 30 students, can only give the student the basics and assignments.  The Parents should be there to help them with those assignments.  Any kids reading ability is a direct reflection on whether the parent reads with their children.  I don’t care if they are in a public school or a private school.  I do admit that private schools are best because it usually elminates the children of “don’t  care” parents.

Does the type of school system children attend
really matter in the subject of race? Statistically speaking, children
attending private school are predominantly white and come from upper-middle
class families thus never really receive adequate interaction with other
ethnicities. We can argue all day about the proper placement of blame here but
society is to blame and the true responsibility lies with both teachers and
parents. The problem in today’s society is that because it is illegal to deny people
of color access to housing, schools or jobs it is presumed discrimination and
racism no longer exists. A white person may see only minor typos whereas a
black person sees complete disregard for race. We should be educating our
children about the differences of all races and cultures also that these
differences do not make someone inferior to us. This is not to say that whites
go unscathed, reverse racism does exist in this country but the interracial
conflict that occurs is most often from societies inequities of rewards and
privileges. Perception also leads to interracial conflict, when one race senses
that another receives more rewards from society. Whether you agree or not
public school is only a contributing factor of race issues in the United States,
not the reason we have race issues. If we continue with that one-minded way of
thinking one can then say, private school leads to the belief that whites are
superior to all other races. That is just ridiculous.  

Since it seems, in many of these forums, political
stance and beliefs are often important determinants of my credibility, I
suppose I should add; I am conservative with moderate tendencies, I believe in success
through one’s own efforts, equal rights to resources and benefits, I hope that
one day I will have the opportunity to watch the news and enjoy my morning
coffee without having to hear about some ridiculous altercation caused by dicey,
uneducated individuals. (Lastly, I should also add-I do not know any of you individually;
this is not an attack on your beliefs, views or culture rather insight from my own
 multicultural educational background)
