Report: Stephen Colbert Suspends Taping For His Ailing Mother

According to the New York Post, Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert (shown here with his mother and his sister) is temporarily suspending The Colbert Report to tend to his ailing, 91-year-old mother, Lorna Colbert. Previously, it had been revealed that he had stopped production of his satirical news show due “an emergency in the family.”

The report quotes a source close to the show who says that “They are a very private family. It’s not surprising that he did not want anyone to know what was going on.” A Colbert spokesperson would not give details about the nature of Mrs. Colbert’s ailment.

A source also adds that the show will resume taping possibly as early as next week.

Hope his mother does well, she should be proud to have given birth to the last true conservative voice in America as well as a star spangled American hero. Tip of my hat sir & I wish you and your family the best.

God bless and keep her. My prayers are going out to her and the family.

Noble, and a blessing. What a wonderful gift it is to be able to care for a parent. My prayers for mother and child.

And, let’s not forget that OSTL, Olby S*cks, American Cowboy, Texan and a host of other names Jeff Merrill uses attributed the absence to a “glass pipe”.

I love Stephen, but his show is satire, he is not a conservative voice, he actually tries to expose conservatism as well as hypocrisy for the fiasco that it is, he is an American hero, and the funniest man alive, how many conservatives think he is one of them I wonder.

God bless, Mr. Colbert. We’ll be thinking about you out here.

Watch your mouth, if not for Colbert we would all be gay married, having abortions, speaking Arabic, & the poor would be richer than the rich.

‘Last true conservative voice in America’ boy that is just too funny. His persona cracks me up even when he’s not here. Hope all turns out to be well with your mother Stephen. Conservative voice…LMAO.

The measure of any  good man is how he looks after his Mama.

Hint: I think he knows that.

JEFF is a complete POS, if I were his parents I would kick him out of the basement.

    No I don’t!

My heart goes out to him and his family.  We need more conservatives like him that stand up for conservative values and won’t give in to the liberal propaganda machine.

Hope your mom feels better soon.  You are fortunate to have each other.

I hope so, but remember when Bush & Co. invited him to be the speaker at a National Press Club dinner (something like that) and were shocked, shocked, to find out he wasn’t on their side???? I guess it’s the name SatanicHamster, very ominous, sounds right wing to me.

Another one, he is NOT a conservative, he just makes fun of them!!

There was a survey by Ohio State:  “conservatives were more likely to report that Colbert only
pretends to be joking and genuinely meant what he said while liberals
were more likely to report that Colbert used satire and was not serious
when offering political statements. Conservatism also significantly predicted perceptions that Colbert disliked liberalism.”

Keep on fooling Liberals, Stephen!  Your true colors are apparent to those who have the “right-minded” eyes to see.

The study went on to say:  “Finally, a post hoc analysis revealed that perceptions of Colbert’s
political opinions fully mediated the relationship between political
    ideology and individual-level opinion.”

    HUH?

More people need to put their families and friends first, no matter their political persuasion (although we all know which is the “family values” party and Colbert clearly is of that persuasion.)

All my best to Mr. Colbert and his mother.  His audience will be there when he returns.

“Finally, a post hoc analysis revealed that perceptions of Colbert’s
political opinions fully mediated the relationship between political
    ideology and individual-level opinion.”
That phrases implicates neurological functions. “Mediation” in that sense refers to what happens among the brain’s warehoused memories, various temperament features & several human senses before the result gets to the frontal lobe or executive function. It’s thought that the relevant mixing at work here happens in the right-side anterior part of the brain, the same area that seeks pleasure & rejects pain-inducing thoughts.

It’s often discussed at this website:

Even that doesn’t quite catch it. His on-show personna CHANNELS the winger mindset. It’s like those old “Visible Body” anatomy toys where in assembling them you can see what’s connected to what & how the individual parts work together to create complex function. What Colbert does is pretend to open up the inner workings of the amygdala to show how emotions twist reality. It’s not HIM that finds it funny: it’s him knowing that some of US find it funny, & therefore pleasure-inducing. But others among us aren’t offended by him doing it, because it makes sense to them; it feels like his mental processes are just like theirs, so normal & confirmatory, so pleasure-inducing. That’s why it’s such a brilliant trick: it works for wildly disparate demographics.

Being a conservative leaning individual, and a fan of
Stephen Colbert, I am well aware that he is satirizing the conservative point
of view… but this conservative has a sense of humor and enjoys the Colbert Report
very much. He makes fun of liberals too but it goes over their heads most of the time.

  • ClarkFL

I hope his mother will get better. I’m not his greatest fan, but its hard losing your mother. Best thing he can do is be with her.

  • Anonymous

Thank you!  Then this is the phenomenon I refer to as “happy feet!”

  • Anonymous

Excellent synopsis, all I know is that he makes me laugh every day!!

  • Anonymous

Don’t worry, we know, he’s an equal opportunity satirist, but the persona, the conservative blustering O’Reilly type is his true genius.

  • Anonymous

Please see Cnick’s comment below.  SC is playing a role. Its a satire.  sure fooled you

  • Anonymous

like what you wrote.  Generally agree.  He is hilarious but the funniest man alive?
I do like his humor.  BTW how do you decide the funniest man alive?

  • Anonymous

What is so  wrong with the poor prospering.  Do you want the poor to stay that way forever?  Everyone deserves to strive to whatever their potential is.   Everyone would be gay married. I’m sure your including heterosexual women and men married to each other.  Right?  Speaking Arabic.  etc.  Wow are yor statements overgeneralizing and with absolutely no backup of proof.

  • Anonymous

To the posters who posted they hope Stephen Colbert’s mothers gets better and the ones who are praying for her.  I with with you.  BTW I tweeted Colbert with starting tonight my prayers are for you and your mother.

  • Anonymous

    Fooled who?

Try listening to something other than the LSM. The liberals will force you to marry someone of your own gender, force your religion to provide you with birth control, force you to have an abortion, indoctrinate you in the Islamic ways, and the top 1% will be begging bums for spare change. Enjoy your Islamic/homosexual/socialist/baby killing state.

My hamster is satanic not me. Don’t judge me by the religious beliefs of my hamster sir. I certainly didn’t raise it this way. I forced as much JC on it as I could until it revolted against me.

  • Anonymous

How dare you doubt Colbert’s conservative credentials. I suppose Chris wasn’t Christian & George Washington wasn’t an American. Why must you hate on Jesus, Washington, & Colbert? Do you hate everything America stands for or something?

  • Anonymous

There’s only one man that could convince me to invade occupy & nuke Iran. Colbert can…Colbert can.

  • Anonymous

    Who’s Chris??

  • Anonymous

should have added in my opinion.  He is so smart funny, reminds me of Jack Benny, but more esoteric.

  • michael daba

Jesus of Nazareth….. you conservative are stupid ! He is probably the most liberal guy in tv ! You don’t KNOW  when somebody is laughing at you not with you !

  • Anonymous

    Take a guess.

I like Jack Benny too. 1929 he was the MC for a movie that featured silent stars making their sound debut. It was called “Your Show of Shows.”  Hmmm reminds me of Sid Ceasor.
Some of the stars were Loretta Young, Karl Dane and the segment that ruined John Gilbert’s talkie career.  Many people think his voice was altered to ruin his movie acting  career.
