The day after Rick Santorum acquired his most impressive wins of the Republican primary so far, we finally got to see what it would mean for Mitt Romney to have Donald Trump as his surrogate. The Donald sat down with Greta Van Susteren to react to, among other things, Santorum’s three-for-three win last night in Colorado, Missouri, and Minnesota, and was profoundly unimpressed, repeating several times that Santorum lost his Senate seat “by a record number” and suggesting he pursue a career as a lawyer, instead.

Kentucky senator Rand Paul is now speaking out about his experience yesterday with the TSA at a Tennessee airport. Early reports — kicking off with a Tweet from his communications director — said the Senator had been detained by TSA officials after setting off an alarm during his full-body scan. He was not permitted to re-enter the machine, but was asked to undergo a pat-down — something which Senator Paul has been very vocally against.

Rick Santorum probably got the shortest holiday vacation of any 2012 Republican candidate– and he proved it by showing up live tonight to On the Record (for tonight, with Shannon Bream). Bream opened up the conversation by pointing out precisely this– that Santorum didn’t seem to get much of a break, but he denied it by pointing out the lovely time he had with his children hunting pheasant.

On Thursday, Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren chatted with Rep. Allen West (R-FL) about an “unidentified Republican congressman” who has said Speaker John Boehner may not be keeping his speakership for long. West said he doesn’t know who might have said that, adding that he feels a bit like Charlie Brown when Lucy swipes the football out from underneath him.

Given the recent spate of news regarding Herman Cain‘s alleged extramarital activity, it makes sense that Greta Van Susteren would provide coverage and analysis of Cain’s campaign, as she did last night in two separate segments. What’s surprising, however, is that she never disclosed her husband’s relationship with Cain on-air. Even more shocking? Fox News EVP of programming Bill Shine doesn’t appear to care.

Thursday night, Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren sat down with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann to discuss various topics, perhaps most notably the Solyndra scandal.

Van Susteren posted the full, 17+ minute interview on her blog, but we’ll try to hit some of the highlights. Van Susteren kicked things off by asking Bachmann about Secretary of Energy Steven Chu’s recent testimony concerning the White House’s ties to the failed Solyndra corporation, particularly its decision to hand the company a tax payer-funded loan.

After a brief hiatus after announcing she would not seek the Republican nomination for the presidency in 2012, Sarah Palin returned to On the Record to give her take on the 2012 elections. The conversation got significantly less political when Greta Van Susteren asked the former governor for comment on Rick Santorum‘s decision to call for Penn State’s football team to abstain from playing football temporarily in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky, a problem towards which Palin had a solution: “hang [Sandusky] from the highest tree.”

In the past several weeks, Sarah Palin has mostly kept quiet about the Republican race, particularly since bowing out of a potential 2012 run herself. Tonight on On the Record, Palin gave her assessments of the various campaigns without endorsing any individual candidate (“the cream of the crop has not yet risen”) and had some particularly strong words for the media regarding their treatment of Rep. Ron Paul: it is “unfair,” she argued, to deprive him of media coverage.

The wife of presidential contender Herman Cain‘s long-waited interview with Greta Van Susteren aired tonight, and explained the way she heard of every individual allegation, and her firm belief that her husband’s conscience would not let him keep something like those allegations from her.

After a report surfaced yesterday that Herman Cain‘s wife, Gloria, would be sitting down with Greta Van Susteren for an exclusive interview over the weekend, Van Susteren confirmed the news today on her blog Gretawire, with photos of Van Susteren and the couple and noting that the interview, which will also include some of their children, to air tomorrow.

After keeping mum throughout her husband’s sexual harassment scandal and, even before then, refusing to be a presence on the campaign trail, Gloria Cain appears ready to speak. The New York Times reported yesterday that the wife of former Republican presidential frontrunner Herman Cain has agreed to sit down for an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren this weekend “for a segment that could air Monday.”

When the Politico report initially came out last night, presidential candidate Herman Cain was said to have been embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal by virtue of a “non-sexual gesture” that made one of his employees uncomfortable. While he and his campaign had been mum for most of the day, Cain told Greta Van Susteren the details of the allegations to the best of his recollection tonight, explaining that what he had done was stand next to the woman, put his hand on his chin, and note, “you’re the same height as my wife.”

A long, long time ago, in early 2011, reality TV star and real estate personality Donald Trump comically became a frontrunner in Republican primary polls after questioning whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Well, despite the President releasing a long-form birth certificate that should have ended the discussion, Trump revealed tonight to Greta Van Susteren that he’s just not convinced. Maybe those investigators in Hawaii found something new?

Is Sarah Palin starting to get tired of American politics? The sometime former potential presidential candidate delivered her post-CNN debate roundup to Greta Van Susteren today and seemed entirely dismayed by the “bickering” and question-avoiding she saw from the candidates. Noting that Newt Gingrich was the most substantive in her eyes, she crowned him the winner, and lamented the kid gloves the mainstream media seemed to be using with Republican candidates. Wait, what?

Former governor Sarah Palin, fresh off announcing that she won’t be seeking the GOP presidential nomination for 2012, made an appearance on Greta Van Susteren‘s On The Record to discuss the current field.

She shares that she decided to make an unequivocal announcement after seeing the media’s back-and-forth speculation concerning New Jersey Governor Chris Christie‘s plans to run (or, as it turns out, his lack thereof). She adds that she didn’t want to hold a press conference or “make a big darn deal about it,” because “this isn’t about me,” nor is it about any one candidate.

The New York Observer‘s Drew Grant (formerly of Mediaite) is reporting on a YouTube clip that shows an Occupy Wall Street protester peppering Fox News’ Griff Jenkins with criticism of the network, in an interview that was never aired. Why the clip didn’t air is the subject of some speculation, but according to Greta Van Susteren, the simplest explanation is the right one.

You can tell a segment hit a host’s nerve when even the mention of it leads to a testy exchange. During a show preview on Hannity tonight, host Sean Hannity was brave enough to casually mention last night’s Mike Tyson-prompted brawl to Greta Van Susteren, who seemed to still not be entirely over her tiff with Tucker Carlson. Thankfully, Hannity offered his services to her as “peacemaker,” as “you didn’t resolve it last night” and that the two are “communicating a bit” didn’t quite sound like burying the hatchet.

Greta Van Susteren went slightly ballistic over Tucker Carlson‘s editorial decision to publish a story on Mike Tyson‘s deplorable comments on Sarah Palin– she called him a “pig” and his website “disgusting.” So it wasn’t a surprise that her debate face to face with Carlson tonight was some of the best cable news television in quite a while, with Carlson cornering Van Susteren into explaining how his publication of “prima facie repulsive” comments compares to her friendly chats with Tyson on her program in the past.

Sarah Palin is not Ronald Reagan– that she made clear on tonight’s On the Record, where she delivered her feedback on tonight’s CNN/Tea Party debate. She appeared particularly impressed by Rep. Michele Bachmann, thanking her for going after Texas governor Rick Perry for mandating HPV vaccines for children, which Palin called “crony capitalism” that was healthy to attack, defying Reagan’s 11th Commandment.

If Karl Rove had been trying to hide his complete contempt for Sarah Palin in the past for the sake of Reagan’s eleventh commandment, he all but gave up on it tonight. Speaking to Greta Van Susteren tonight, Rove lashed out at Palin’s statement that his speculation on her candidacy was wrong by repeatedly referring to her “thin skin” and daring Palin to “end the speculation” and say she isn’t running if such speculation upsets her.

It’s a good bet that, when challenged to defend the Tea Party, Sarah Palin won’t balk from the challenge. Tonight, however, that challenge came in the name of a conservative, as Greta Van Susteren pointed out the group is targeting conservative stalwart Sen. Orrin Hatch for being too liberal. Van Susteren asked Palin how she would respond to their attempt to unseat him, to which Palin replied that she had admiration for the “good things” Sen. Hatch had done, and extremist elements were in “every group.”

Add Donald Trump to the list of people that seem to have doubts about President Obama’s national tour. Speaking from his office with Greta van Susteren today, Trump argued that the President takes “more vacations than any human being I’ve ever seen” and that his “fundraising tour” should not fall into the hands of taxpayers, citing a lack of leadership on his part.

Was a situation in which Lawrence O’Donnell and Donald Trump agreed wholeheartedly even possible a mere few months ago? A mere hour after O’Donnell called Standard & Poor’s a “disgrace” for the “incompetence” that led to America’s credit downgrade on Friday, Trump visited Greta van Susteren and used the exact same word, adding with some flair that the “publicity-hungry” leaders of the S&P are “loving this” and capitalizing on a “President who doesn’t have a clue.”

Don’t tell Newt Gingrich where his campaign t-shirts were made. On tonight’s On The Record, the presidential candidate addressed concerns that his campaign t-shirts were being made by foreign companies, along with Herman Cain, Rep. Ron Paul, and others. “That’s bologna!” he told host Greta van Susteren, arguing that most of his t-shirts were made in America and that even bringing up the topic was “junk reporting.”
