Finally, One Video Explains Everything That Robert Gibbs Is Not

As Aristotle–or was it Bones McCoy on Star Trek–once said, “I’m a doctor, not a bricklayer.” And in the same vein, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs has, over the years, explained to reporters the very many things that he is not. He’s not, for instance, a scholar of Chinese history. And he’s not Speaker of the House. And, as he’s said many times, he is not a lawyer. Or a judge. Or a law enforcement official.

And just to clear up any confusion, Gibbs is also not an insurance company broker. Or a member of the Nobel Prize committee. Or the person who decides what questions the hosts of The View ask the President.

The gang at POLITICO assembled all of the Gibbs “I’m Nots” and strung them together into one highly amusing video that’s just about perfect for a mental health break on a Tuesday.

Watch and enjoy, from POLITICO:

    Um I..I..I.. am an idiot.
Is this suppose to be public speech deflection tips 101?
By not being an expert on anything regarding the the topic at hand – I think the press pool understood exactly what you were ‘the messenger boy’

Well, given all that, we also know another thing the Gibbster is not — a very good press secretary. Whatever else you are not, you should be able to answer questions about your boss’ practices and policies, instead of constantly making excuses for yourself. Especially if you are the Obama insider that Gibbs has been.

Gibbs has always reminded me of some guys I knew in college — a big frat boy, whose father got him into the right fraternity, bought him the right clothes and car, etc., but sill couldn’t buy him any class or brains.
