I have to say, my sympathies are with O’Van Karlsen on this. We use to have all sorts of wondrous ornaments with Santa Claus kneeling before the Baby Jesus’ cradle (an interesting concept since we didn’t really have saints until ….) or Frosty the Snowman Klones as Wise Men (another interesting concept since Jesus was not born in Sweden or any other place where snow is customary). Where have all of those gone?

The more they moan about it, the more the mockery should continue. Maybe they don’t enjoy the spotlight.

I’m of the humble opinion that, to the extent Christmas suffers at all, it is far more from a handful of casual, tacky Christians who distort the meaning and turn it into a bacchanal of greed and gluttony. What non-Christians do with Christmas concerns me not at all.
