Jon Voight At Tea Party Rally: “Founders Were Envisioning A Very Small Government”
It’s a beautiful day on Capitol Hill for a Tea Party, and thousands of conservatives have rallied in D.C. to protest at yet another Anti-Health Care Reform rally. And amongst all the common folks and Middle Americans that conservatives like to tout as the base of these events, there’s a familiar face: Angelina Jolie’s father, actor Jon Voight.
The tip-off for why Jon Voight is one of the few famous actors that support the rally (as opposed to Tom Hanks and the rest of the smoking/drinking Hollywood liberals)? When he asks the Fox News reporter what she knows about his career and her response is “I’ve seen you on 24!”

It’s good to see “at least one Hollywood star” who is not a hypocrite. All those who think George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, et al, will be signing up for government health care, please stick your head back in the sand.
In a few short years the US will have a two-tier health system, one for the rich and one for the rest of us. But wait, I thought the Democrats health care bill was going to eliminate that?
Good for Voight.
He’s my favorite celebrity Republican – male.
My favorite celebrity Republican – female is Janine Turner.
I’ve chatted with each of them briefly and they seemed like nice, bright (and damn good looking) people.
I liked both of them tons!
I know there arent many to choose from – but theyre still very good choices even if there were many more options.. (and I did find it shocking when the fellow who once played the Midnight Cowboy was conservative in any way…and even more when I heard that Maggie from Northern Exposure was a Conservo Christian activist Republican, which IS interesting indeed since I truly fell in love with her character on that wonderful show long ago)
“I truly fell in love with her” body and looks! Oddly enough, I feel the same way about Janeane Garofalo.
As long as Voight remains coherent, I don’t think his political involvement will hurt his career. I make that caveat because when he first started to crossover, he gave a speech and/or interview that was quite rambling and became the subject of some ridicule, but actual political involvement can’t really hurt him more than he has already been pigeon-holed.
As for why he’s the only Hollywood rep, I don’t know, but I’d guess that with the exception of maybe Craig T. Nelson and a couple of others, most are of the country club variety.
In fact, I believe Colby has a notice on here somewhere about Rosie O’Donnell getting a syndication deal.
One of the most political (and uncomfortable) moments from her previous show was when she hammered Tom Selleck for his involvement with the NRA.
Mr. Selleck is one of Hollywood’s premier Republicans and I’d have to look for the link, but I just saw the other day that he has a new show in development, so he’s both a Republican and has been the “face” of a controversial issue, yet his career hasn’t been hurt. Not to mention that unlike Voight, Selleck has never won an Academy Award, nor has he been nominated, let alone four times.
Rosie O’Donnell is typical of the far left. She can’t hear opinions different from hers without getting angry.

Uh, nope. How many times do people have to say this isn’t universal health care or socialized medicine before it sinks into conservative’s brains? This is a liberal’s (centrist) bill, more in the style of Switzerland’s or Germany’s health care systems.

Dream on silly school boy. We are getting nationalized health care. The only question is the timing-how long before it happens? I think 8-12 years max.
Jon Voight is a very fine actor. A favorite. But in recent years he has lost his lid. And stumbled into intellectual abstinence. A victim of indoctrination thru repitition by a small group of right-wing losers he has associated himself with. (Fact). He’s a perfect example of the destruction of thought and the crippling of reason the the right-wing cowardice and craziness can infect one with. Jon will stumble for awhile, be “used” for awhile – and return to decency and reality.
