You can’t really judge “balance” with an opinion poll only perception and as the linked blog and its comments suggest, there is a correlation between party identification and other factors.

I know that Pew has done some comparison toward “balance” on specific issues, but I don’t have time to locate them this minute (my honey-do list is calling) and any way you look at it, I’m sure someone would try to dismiss the Pew research because it was filtered through the prism of somebody’s perspective.
