Karl Rove: ‘Fox News Is Fairer Than MSNBC’

Karl Rove was on Meet The Press this morning, discussing Fox News’ (where he is a political analyst) coverage of the Obama administration. Have they been as fair to the president as other networks? Even more so, claims the former senior adviser to George W. Bush, especially since some news networks “has opinion people…and those same people playing the part of your news delivery…which would not happen at Fox.” Guess which network he was talking about!

A rough transcript of the back and forth:

TOM BROKAW: “Do you think that Fox News is fair to President Obama?”

KARL ROVE: “I think they– on the news side, absolutely. I think that they’ve got first-rate individuals at the White House
who — do their job. And in an objective, fair, and balanced way, yeah, absolutely.

BROKAW: You don’t think that they have teed up, for example, the health care bill and are more selective in their coverage?

ROVE: No in fact you have to differentiate, NBC, for example, has MSNBC, which has opinion people …

BROKAW: (interrupting)… 6:00 at night we do.

ROVE: ..and also, you have some of those same people playing part of your news delivery at MSNBC. Which would not happen at Fox. I would not be put out there as quote an objective journalist.

This thread with be full of Fox trashing, per usual, but just to remind everyone up front, Fox was rated the MOST “fair and balanced” by a pollster who actually leans to the left. Even Hil Clinton agreed. So keep burying your faces in the sand if you like, but those are the FACTS.

After all of Megyn Kelly’s objective “hard news” analysis of the health care bill, how could ANYONE in their right mind argue with Rove?

Recent studies from Harvard, George Mason U, Sacred Heart U, pew..and others show that Fox is the most balanced news outlet.

These are not opinion polls, they are analyses done on the actually stories reported ..and how they are reported.

MSNBC always ranks at or near the bottom

Fox is full of shit! They can’t even be honest about the little things. For instance, Senator Byrd has agreed to fininsh healthcare through reconciliation but, on Friday Steve Douchie, said that Byrd is against it. Now, is that fair or balanced? Idiots!

What’s Rove gona say? Is he not employed by FNC?

What would you say about Mediaite if you were interviewed by Daily Kos? Mediaite s****, I hate working there?

It’s like Gibbs on FNS, what’s he going to say about the health care bill? It’s going down in flames?

BTW: What’s Gibbs doing on a Fox Sunday Show? I thought they were’nt a real News organization that was only watched by idiots and racists, as some on this blog have said?

Would I find a ‘White Hood’ in Mr. Gibbs’s closet?

I’m sorry, but this would be like Carville saying CNN is the most fair out of the three.

If you are contracted with one channel, you lose a bit of your credibility on the issue, sorry, let alone that anyone who has had a political connection in the past will always be questioned. Carville would be attacked by Republicans, Rove for Liberals, this isn’t worth screaming over.

You have GOT to be kidding me.

MSNBC at least gives its entire morning lineup to a bona-fide conservative host, Joe Scarbourough.

Where is the show on Fox hosted by a Conservative? Oh, that’s right…there is none.

    And PLEASE KARL SPARE US!

As if Megyn Kelly or any of the other Fox daytime “news” personalities are just down the middle unpartisan hosts.

KARL ROVE IS A JOKE. FOX NEWS IS A JOKE. END OF STORY.

Did MSNBC tell it’s viewers that Senator Byrd was against finishing healthcare through reconciliation? No, because that’s a damn lie. Just one of the many peddled by fox. People who watch MSNBC don’t watch it because they tell them what they want to hear. With the exception of Morning Joe’s bullshit, people watch MSNBC because they give you the facts. Which is what a news org is supposed to do. That’s why it’s called NEWS!

I think MichelleF should go back and read what Hillary actually said. She said they were fair to her during the primaries when she was a candidate. Of course they would have been fair to her then, out of their hatred for Obama. Hell, they would have loved anyone running against Obama.

“See my first comment for the FACTS that you so hate.”

The facts that most Americans think Fix is more fair in some poll done by some outfit I’ve never heard of are hardly proof of anything.

And we have no idea what the actual question was in the poll, where the poll was taken, the methodology of the poll.

Yet you expect me to accept as “fact” that Fox is more fair because one poll, based on X number of people (was it 10, 100, 1000, 10,000?) said Fox was/is the most “fair.”

Further, most Americans do not even watch cable news. Ratings prove this.

So, if i were to go to the mall and ask some dumb gal who she thought was the most fair, she might say “Fox, because i was flipping through the channels one day and they said they were ‘fair & balanced.’

“…the Commie News Network are so SMART, why don’t people watch them??!”

Because they also watch Fox for the comedy value.

By the way, CNN’s regular pundit lineup include Mary Matlin, assistant to Bush and counselor to Dick Cheney; Bill Bennet, an evangelical former Sec. of Ed. that seeded the place with evangelicals during his tenure in the Reagan administration; Fran Townsend, Dep. Sec. Bush Dept. Homeland Security.
Moreover, prime-time’s Campbell Brown is married to former Bush administration foreign policy adviser, Dan Senor.
Regular David Frum is a Bush speech writer who coined the phrase ‘axis of evil’ and strongly supported John Roberts for Chief Justice.
    John King worships Dick Cheney.
CNN spawned both Glenn Beck and Lou Dobbs and infrequently invites guests such as Michele Bachman and Ann Coulter and Lynn Cheney and Sarah Palin on to spew their so-called ‘conservative’ hate and xenophoboia, free of any meaningful challenge to their demonstrable lies.
Those are just off of the top of my head.

Not that I think CNN offers a good product. They don’t. It sucks. But to claim it is predominantly liberal is simply an grotesquely ignorant statement.

  • puck30 puck30 says:

    “Fox seldom bother with facts”

Well, if that is the case as some would like people to believe then why……

If MSNBC always has the facts to back them up.

If MSNBC always has the quotes to back them up.

If MSNBC always has the links to back them up.

If MSNBC always has the proper video clips to back them up. (no chop shop)

And if MSNBC has the Harvard Elite & The Roades Scholar to back them up. Why do they get their ratings butts kicked by a High School ‘C’ Student and a Wallbanger?

Again should be nothing but a chip shot for the highly educated to put on at least ONE show that would cream FNC in the ratings.

Why is it when you become highly educated, and when things don’t go your way. Instead of figuring out how to better your programing. The highly educated way is to complain and name call?

    ***********************************************************************************************************************

“MSNBC at least gives its entire morning lineup to a bona-fide conservative host…..”

@MichelleF: It may just seem like semantics, but the PPP poll says that FNC is perceived more balanced by a 10-point margin over CNN. You can’t really judge “balance” with an opinion poll only perception and as the linked blog and its comments suggest, there is a correlation between party identification and other factors.

I know that Pew has done some comparison toward “balance” on specific issues, but I don’t have time to locate them this minute (my honey-do list is calling) and any way you look at it, I’m sure someone would try to dismiss the Pew research because it was filtered through the prism of somebody’s perspective.

Wow! I just can’t understand why a highly educated person like Mika Brzezinski who, attended The Madeira School during her high-school years. Graduated in 1989 from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, where she majored in English, after transferring from Georgetown University as a junior. Would let herself be treated like that.

You would think that she would be going to her bosses at MSNBC, her husband or maybe a group like N.O.W. to get away from this terrible man! Well, at least after 9AM she doesn’t have to subject herself to this terrible, vile man! You would have to figure she would be highly educated to run, RUN as faw away from him as possible! My God! Three full hours is just too much for anybody to take! Poor Mika!

So I wonder what she does after 9AM?

    http://wabcradio.com/article.asp?id=1285199

Wait! You mean to tell me she spends the whole morning with that vile Joe? So, the person who has the ‘Worst Job In The Television’. Does it for another two hours on radio? Again, what does that say about the highly educated?

Well one thing it does say is, what does this have to do with the original question? Some highly educated person comes on here and says. “MSNBC at least gives its entire morning lineup to a bona-fide conservative host.” To which I said. “Mika Brezinski is a bona-fide conservative host that MSNBC gives it’s entire morning lineup to.
I always thought she shared hosting duties with that Joe guy.”

To which another highly educated poster replied with an article about her having the ‘Worst Job In The Television’.
It’s soo bad she does six hours with this guy?

And if it’s known by all the ‘highly educated people’ in ‘Elite Circles” that this woman is just being tormented by this evil, vile, conservative (for six hours). Then why would the ‘highly educated’ Arianna Huffington host a party for Mika Brezinski and Joe Scarborough, and introduce them as “the Hepburn and Tracy” of morning TV.

A Party? That means Mika spends more than six hours ‘Worst Job In Television’ co-host?

Something seems very screwed up in ‘Highly Educated Land’.

And BTW Mr. Heckman, it always gets me. If a highly educated person such as yourself doesn’t like what you see on FNC. Why don’t do the simple thing the rest of us do.

You press the little button on your remote that says up or down. Heck, you could even put a block so you wouldn’t have to watch it. For a highly educated person such as yourself, it’s a very simple thing to do.

Instead a highly educated person such as yourself watches something he doesn’t like? Sounds very unproductive. And why do highly educated people such as yourself have trouble with their linguistics.

I say, I don’t watch Fox & Friends. How did I know the correct way was to say “the Stooges in the Morning.”

I say, I’m never home to watch Neil Cavuto. How did I know the correct ‘highly educated way’ to say is “Too Craputo”.

I say, I watch ‘The Factor with Bill O’Reilly’. How did I know the correct ‘highly educated way’ to say was ” the biggest Conservative Billdo.”

You say, in a highly educated tone. It is nothing but a 22 hours GOP love fest, I am taking off the 2 hours of Shep he is a gem among pieces of cow dung.

To which I say, Geraldo is a Conservative? Doesn’t he host a show somewhere on FNC?

Read Johnny Dollar and I will change my mind? So if there is a racist comment on there it means that all conseratives are racist?

Although Koldys welcomes a number of racists to his site and provides them the warmest of hospitality, I don’t think we can single the PHOX Phan Klub out as the great PHOX Racist Watering-Hole. That honor goes to Greta Wire whicn appears to have more racists per capita than Alabama. Of course, we’re still talking about the PHOX family, whether its Koldys or Greta, but I think Greta Watch is the better indicia of racism at PHOX. As a matter of fact, if Jeff Merill and Janet Hawkins are not posting, the PHOX Phan Klub is relatively free of racism.

To those who claims Fox is “Less” Fair and Balance than the rest of the media, I have just 5 letters for you…

    ACORN

Fact is, EVERY media outlet have *some* bias. The LEFT’s issue with Fox is that, Fox claims to be “Fair and Balance” because they’re really not (from their perspective). Of course, the LEFT will conveniently leave out the fact that the main stream media claims to be “Objective” (which they are not)

    “Fair and Balance” vs “objective”

Face it…nobody have a moral ground to stand on on this issue. However, at least with Fox, you do at least hear about the story…whereas with the Mainstream, all you hear is “Tea Beggers” and Fox bashing…

    …how sad…

Actually, Herr Autobahn, the Berlin Airlift and the Marshall Plan were the high water mark for American foreign policy. Not just empathy, but also tangible assistance …. Sorry, Cecelia, but you made an incredibly stupid and demonstrably untrue remark. The fact that I called you on, as I have several times recently, once setting you off on a foaming at the mouth fest, doesn’t make me a poseur. I do think you should confine yourself to genuine, on topic posts here, and you and Janet and Jeff can enjoy your silly little “gotcha games” over at Koldys’ PHOX Phan Klub. He needs all the hits he can get these days, and I suspect no one over here is much entertained by your intramural games.
