I think it works both ways Michelle. I believe I have stayed rational when discussing Palin here. There are those who dislike her who get pretty nasty and hateful. At the same time, her defenders do tend to go ballistic at times when someone else criticizes her. Then a back and forth ensues. It’s like the two sides feed off each other.

The christian left keeps its mouth shut to avoid terrorist attacks by christian right hate groups, and before anyone denies this: churches have broken up over the issue of members who do not support a conservative republican agenda or who do not want conservative politics being pushed from the pulpit, there have also been churches who conducted voter registration verifications and pushed members to seek other places to worship for not being registered as an independent or republican. Add to that the Republican Conservative Christian media figures pushing 24/7/365 hatred of OBAMA and anything not CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH or just pushing BE AFRAID OF THIS AND THAT positions all of which are against the democratic positions POLITICALLY and not on religious grounds. Do not forget how republicans and the protestant christian sects/cults/churches were (and still do) demanding that ROMAN CATHOLICS excommunicate ROMAN CATHOLIC Democrats solely for being Democrats, or how every time a religious figure of some note points out how the majority of the positions of the Democratic party are more in line with christian values than republican or conservative political values OUT COME THE KNIVES.
As for the beliefs of the Christian right about the Christian left they assume all Catholics are the LEFT period.

The Christian left does not keep its mouth shut, at least not all of them. Jim Wallis is a well-known Evangelical author who runs Sojourners and is quite outspoken. There is also Richard Cizik, who if not exactly a liberal has been championing the green issue lately, much to the chagrin of some conservative Evangelicals. The Christian left is out there.

So Huck has decided that he needs to spice it up a bit too.

I think everyone watching this video knows that no ill will was present in Huck’s joke, he has a good sense of humor both ways, he takes what he dishes with grace.
