Slackline Pro Andy Lewis Steals Show During Madonna Super Bowl Performance

Millions of football fans were transfixed by a Will Ferrell look-alike who stole the show at last night’s Super Bowl halftime performance by Madonna. Rocking a stunningly primal hairdo, the toga-adorn man performed a series of death-defying stunts. He deftly leapt through the air, while gracefully balancing himself on a trapeze to the beat of the Material Girl’s song “Music” and wowed the crowd with an epic backflip.

So who was that guy?

According to the Boulder Daily Camera‘s Amy Bounds, the performer is none other than slacklining extraordinaire Andy Lewis, the Shaun White of the sport.

Gibbon Slacklines, a Boulder company, provided both the line and the athlete, Andy Lewis. Lewis, who’s sponsored by Gibbon, performed acrobatic tricks and danced on the low, trampoline like line during Madonna’s show. The line was strung between two posts in front of the stage.

Bounds reports that Madonna saw a slacklining competition in November and decided to include it in the show.

I haven’t really watched the Superbowl in this century, and even the last couple of decades of the preceding century, but I always feel that we as a nation have endured something, accomplished something simply by muddling our way through all of this crap each year. A decent Texas high school football game is far more enjoyable.
