Bill Maher ripped into Democrats and blamed them for making President Donald Trump “cool.”

During a panel discussion on Friday’s Real Time with Stephen A. Smith and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Maher argued Trump is more widely accepted by the public today than ever before and it’s thanks to Democrats and their hyper-focus on Trump.

“Here’s how bad the Democrats fucked up: Trump is cool now,” Maher declared. “He’s not just the most powerful guy in the world and just made himself like the richest, he’s actually kind of [cool] at 78!”

Maher noted the support of rappers and athletes and argued that though he once made fun of Trump’s dancing, it’s now become a trendy thing to do.

“I was making fun of him, jerking off two guys at one time, and now he owns it. And now they’re doing it!” Maher said. “I mean, the Village People are gay for Trump now!”

The Village People performed at a Trump inaugural event following him playing YMCA at multiple rallies.

Khanna pushed back slightly, arguing Trump has long been a celebrity thanks to television shows like The Apprentice.

“He was a joke!” Maher shot back.

“Do we have to have the celebrity president?” Khanna asked. “I mean, is it all about coolness? How about being cool as

president is actually about helping people?”

Maher also offered up criticism of Trump’s first days in office on Friday, while Smith ripped into Democrats, including Khanna, himself.

“They got to a point where if you uttered the wrong pronoun, it was ready to cost you your career,” he said. “I’m working in television and I’m having people who are hyperventilating, scared to death, take a deep breath, making sure that when they go on a diatribe or a rant or whatever, they’re uttering every syllable correctly.”
