Bill Maher to Sean Penn: Are You Tired of ‘Politically Correct Assholes’?

Once again, Bill Maher tonight went off on politically correct culture, this time to Sean Penn, who garnered the wrath of the PC brigade for making a “green card” joke about Mexican writer/director Alejandro González Iñárritu at the Oscars when he won for Birdman. Penn said a few days ago he’s surprised by the “flagrant stupidity” of the criticism and said he has no plans to apologize, so Maher tonight got his thoughts on PC culture.

Maher said that he’s getting tired of “politically correct assholes” lighting up every time someone tells a joke that isn’t 100 percent clean. Penn called it the dark side of social media where people just like to hear the sound of their own voice.

Maher also surmised that these people have “never done anything good in their life and they want to feel like they’re the good people” by punishing anyone who says anything even mildly provocative.
