Fox News’ Lawrence Jones declared some parents need to “spank your kid’s ass” during a segment on younger parents moving away from the trend of “gentle parenting.”

On Wednesday’s Fox & Friends, Jones, Brian Kilmeade, and Ainsley Earhardt ran through a handful of TikTok clips of parents who participate in “gentle parenting.” The clips included moms trying to reason with their upset children, including one infant who repeatedly hit their mother in the face while the mother gently told their child to stop.

“Some of you need to spank your kid’s ass. It’s a problem. Mama Jones didn’t play it. My father didn’t played it. And I just see all these kids going crazy in the grocery store, on the plane. And if the parents just would put them over their leg and just [smack], it would be over,” Jones said in reaction to the clips.

“The problem is it will be over for you as a parent if you do that in New York City. They would take our children. So you have to do it in your house,” Earhardt responded.

She then cut to an interview she conducted with family physician and author Dr. Leonard Sachs on the subject.

“I think most gurus of gentle parenting would agree that it means that good parenting means letting kids decide. Well, that’s a really

bad idea because parenting works when parents are in charge. And if you let kids decide, a lot of bad things happen,” he said.

Kilmeade and Earhardt noted there is a new trend call “eff around and find out” that is replacing gentle parenting.

“I love it,” Jones said. “I’m gonna get a t-shirt that says that.”
