President Donald Trump said any disagreements he has with Russian President Vladimir Putin are best kept a private matter.

The world leaders met in Anchorage, Alaska on Friday to discuss a potential end to Russia’s war in Ukraine, whose president, Volodymyr Zelensky, was not invited. Along with their respective aides, Trump and Putin met for nearly three hours before speaking to reporters, though they did not take questions.

We didn’t get there,” Trump announced, but he added that “we have a very good chance of getting there.”

Afterward, Trump sat for an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News in the room where the summit took place.

“So, did you have alone time with him?” Hannity asked the president.

“Yeah, I did. I did actually, after our speeches,” Trump replied. “He made a very good speech, and I also finished it up. And afterwards, we spoke right after that. We spoke very sincerely. I think he wants to see it done.”

Hannity pivoted to potential areas of disagreement between Trump and his counterpart.

“In your press conference, you talked about a lot of things that you agreed on, and maybe one big issue you don’t agree on,” the Fox host said. “Are you prepared to go public with that?”

Trump responded:

No, I’d rather not. I guess somebody’s gonna go public with it. They’ll figure it out. But no,

I don’t wanna do that. I wanna see if we can get it done. You know, it’s not a done deal at all. And Ukraine has to agree. You know, President Zelensky has to agree. But it’s a terrible war where he’s losing a lot, and both of them are. And hopefully, it can get completed. That’d be a great achievement for them. Forget about me. For them. And you will save 7,000 lives a week. That’s a lot.
