Dem Congressman Reportedly Saves Child from Choking on Chicken Nugget

Rep. Pete Gallego (D-TX) reportedly saved a three-year-old child from choking Friday night aboard a flight home to Texas.

Gallego told Roll Call that he was seated next to the boy and his mother, who was holding a baby. the mother yelled that her son was choking, so Gallego jumped into action.

“I turned around quickly and I had to unbuckle his seat belt,” Gallego said. He then performed a Heimlich maneuver-esque exercise on the child. “As I did that he turned around to look at me and I ended up with chicken nuggets on my chest.”

Gallego said he didn’t smell too good after the panic was over, due to the nuggets, but the child was safe.

Paige Flippen, the child’s mother, tweeted her thanks:

Gallego has served one term in Congress. He is running for reelection and has retweeted several articles about his nugget episode.
