Fox News continues to dominate its competitors in the ratings, with four of its programs in the top five most-watched cable news shows in July 2018.
Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson take the #1 and #2 spots, with 3.37 million viewers and 2.70 million viewers respectively, followed by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow with 2.67 million viewers.
The trend holds in the 25-54 demo as well, with Hannity scoring 623K viewers in the demo, Carlson with 524K, and Maddow with 511K.
Laura Ingraham‘s show came in fourth overall, followed by Fox News’ 5 pm program The Five.
In primetime, Fox News averaged a total of 2.41 million viewers, followed by MSNBC with 1.66 million and CNN with 891K.
Fox even scored some wins during Shark Week. Hannity in particular rated an average of over 3.3 million viewers, while Shark Week programming averaged 1.7 million total (last week’s Sunday special Shaq Does Shark Week scored 3.37 million viewers).
July has been a remarkable news month overall between the announcement of Brett Kavanaugh and the Russian indictments and the Michael Cohen tapes and the Helsinki summit. Following the summit, Fox News scored big ratings wins with Chris Wallace‘s tough interview with Vladimir Putin, followed by Hannity and Carlson’s sit-downs with President Donald Trump.
